The Services We Provide

We provide services to businesses and individuals with regard to jewellery and watch repair, design, commission, sale, purchase, valuations and 28 day buy-back schemes (the “Services”). We often need to collect various types of personal data from the individuals we are providing the Services to. This policy sets out the reasons we collect that data, how we use and store it, and your rights as an individual under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).

The Type of Personal Information We Collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics e.g., your name and contact details.
  • Information regarding your experiences with our products and contact preferences.
  • Customer service information e.g., order requests, order history, photographs, comments and other content you provide.
  • Purchase and transaction details.
  • Data related to your activity on our website.

How We Collect Your Personal Information and Why We Have It

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To respond to enquiries and manage customer service interactions with you.
  • To verify your identity.
  • To provide the Services to you.
  • To provide information regarding products and services we believe you may be interested in where we have a legitimate interest.
  • To let you know about changes we are making to our products or services.
  • Where we have a legal right or duty to use or disclose your information (for example in relation to an investigation by a public authority or in a legal dispute).

We use the information that you have given us in order to facilitate the Services – for example to provide updates on jewellery repair progress. Although you are under no obligation to provide your personal information to us, there may be certain services we are unable to provide to you without it.

Where specialist attention such as valuations or complex repairs may be required, we may share this information with third parties or independent contractors whose involvement is necessary for the completion of the agreed work.

With regard to security and preventing criminal acts, we may use closed circuit TV in as well as around our premises to constantly monitor and collect visual images. All recordings stay our sole property.

Our Lawful Bases for Processing Personal Data

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to revoke your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting jamesstephensjewellers@gmail.com or calling us on 01293 560 029.

(b) Where we have a contractual obligation – for example if you decide to enter into our 28-day buyback scheme, we are obliged to carry out certain contractual terms.

(c) Where we have a legitimate interest outside of the aforementioned reasons.

How We Store Your Personal Information

Your information is securely stored in our database and except as otherwise specified in this policy, we use commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that access to your information is limited to our employees, agents and officers.

We keep copies of your name, phone number, email address and postal address for only as long as we reasonably need them in order to provide the Services or keep you updated regarding any changes. If we determine that we no longer reasonably need to keep your data, we will dispose of your information by removing your details from our records.

Your Data Protection Rights

Under data protection law, you have the following rights:

(a) Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

(b) Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to update, or add to, any personal information you think is inaccurate.
